Princess Sharha of the Kingdom of Tanarsia is kidnapped by a duke who claims to love her into madness.  Sharha, always haughty and ambitious, refuses to marry him no matter the prices he names.  Through heartbreak and physical pain, Sharha continues to deny him, but when her hopes of rescue die with her lover, will she finally give in?  Or will her hoped-for hero come in a form she never expected?
